Summary

Codex Bible does not collect personal information. Every feature works without an account. What you read, highlight, note and bookmark stays on your device.

What we do not collect

Name, email address or phone number (unless you choose to sign in)
Location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera
Usage analytics, crash reports or behavioural tracking

The app contains no analytics SDK. It does show ads through Google AdMob (see “Advertising” below).

Advertising

Codex Bible is free and shows ads served by Google AdMob: one small banner at the bottom of the reader and an occasional full-screen ad when you turn chapters. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device identifiers (such as the IDFA on iOS, only if you allow tracking), IP address, coarse location derived from it, and ad interaction data. How Google uses this data is described in Google’s partner policy.

Your choice: on iOS you are asked via App Tracking Transparency whether personalised ads may use your identifier; in the EEA/UK you are shown a consent form (Google UMP). You can change these choices at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → Tracking, or in the app’s consent form.
Remove ads: a one-time in-app purchase (“Remove Ads”) turns off all advertising permanently. Purchases are processed by Apple; we receive no payment details.
Your reading data — highlights, notes, bookmarks and reading position — is never shared with advertisers and never sold.

Deleting the app removes all of it.

Only if you sign in

Syncing across devices requires signing in with Apple or Google. This is optional. If you sign in, we store an anonymous account identifier and your highlights, notes, bookmarks and reading position — so they can reach your other devices.

We do not store your email address. Scripture text itself is never sent to our servers.

Signing out removes the credential from your device. To delete your account and its synced data entirely, contact us at the address below.

Network activity

The app connects to the internet in exactly two cases:

Downloading translations — static Bible files from a content server
Syncing — only when signed in

All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS.

Third parties

None. We do not sell or share any data with third parties.

Children

The app collects no personal information, so it carries no age restriction. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Scripture sources

Texts are public-domain translations provided by eBible.org. Where study notes are included, they come from Tyndale Open Study Notes (CC BY-SA 4.0) and are credited in the app.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date above and note significant changes in the app.
